Pastor and Deanna Abell

Pastor Abell grew up in Indiana on a farm and was saved as a young boy in Sunday School.He and Deanna were married in 1987 and have two teenage children. He served in the army and was a businessman before being called to preach in 2001. He has a M.A. in theology from Baptist Bible Graduate School and a second M.A. in Religious Studies from Faith Theological Seminary. He loves preaching, telling jokes, leading people to Christ, and discipling those who want to serve God. He would love to meet you!

Ernie and Barb Brown

Brother Ernie Brown and his wife, Barb, both grew up in small towns in New Jersey. While serving in the Air Force, he was saved at Gateway Baptist Church in 1981. Bro. Ernie surrendered to a ministry call from God and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Since his graduation, with a B.A. in Pastoral Theology, he has served God in churches in Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina. They have three grown daughters and one grandchild.

Bro. Ernie oversees the ministry of music at HBC and loves working with the choir. He also is responsible for the oversight of the Audio/Visual ministry.

As one of our Associate Pastor's, His main duties include care visitation for shutins and senior citizens, as well as directing our Silver Anchor's Ministries for those 55 and over. He is a graduate of Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, MO and holds a Masters degree in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and  Melissa were married in 1994 and have one pre-teen daughter, Natalie.
 

 Darrel and Melissa DeRadcliffe  

Matt Read has been an Ames resident for most of his life.  After a dramatic conversion he surrendered to the ministry at the age of 21. Matt met his sweetheart Jill and was married in 2004. They have two young children, Jacob and Katelyn. Matt is a graduate of Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny and is almost finished with his Master's degree from Liberty Baptist Seminary in Virginia.  Matt loves the student ministry, from teens through young adults and wants to help them develop in their walk with the Lord.

                Matt and Jill Read

Penni Rentz is the secretary at HBC. As such she is the hub of the wheel that makes our church run! She handles all data management, communication, answer phones, and generally acts as the gate-keeper at Heartland. Without Penni things wouldn't run quite as smooth as they do. She and her Husband Dave have been married since 1996. They have been at Heartland since 2007.
