Our church began in 1975 under the name Ames Baptist Church. We met in a rented building for several years before purchasing an old school building between Ames and Nevada on Lincoln Highway. The church continued in that location until 2000 when we voted to sell the property on Lincoln Highway and put a down payment on an old auction barn at 3504 North Grand Avenue. During this move, the church changed its name to Heartland Baptist Church and the 22 members began meeting once again in a rented building until the old barn on the new property could be remodeled. The 4000 sq. ft. remodeling project was completed in 2004 and the church held its first service on January 2nd with 120 in attendance. The church grew over the next several years until it reached capacity in the old auction barn. The church voted to build on again and began to build a 9000 sq. ft. addition. The addition was completed by Easter of 2006 with 340 in attendance. Heartland Baptist Church is an independent church that elects its own leaders and finances its own ministries. It is a Baptist church in order to identify with those that practice believers baptism and not the papist error of infant baptism. Throughout history, those that have insisted on following the Biblical method of being baptized after they understood salvation were often called re-baptizers or Baptists. Our church seeks to reach the lost and spread the Gospel by all available means. We also strive to disciple all believers through the teaching and preaching of God's Word. We are fundamentalists, which
means that we not only believe in the fundamentals of the faith, but our
conscience moves us to tell others when their churches are erring from
the faith. We hope to show the world God's love by our kindness as well as show God's holiness by our seperation from the world. Our church has officers which are prescribed by the scriptures, pastor and deacon. These men are the spiritual leaders of our church and meet the strict qualifications set forth in the books of Acts, Titus, and 1 Timothy. Our church is also congregational in polity, as taught in the scriptures, allowing all members an equal vote and say. Heartland Baptist Church strives above all to please the Lord by staying true and faithful to His instructions and by doing all that we can by fulfilling the Great Commission. The four to five hundred people who attend HBC invite you to come see whats so special about this church!
